This blog is for me, for you, and for our students.

This is for me in the sense that the more I write, the more I have a chance to grapple with my thinking, clarify my perspective, and explain to myself what I think I know. As Bruce Ballenger put it, “words can be a means for finding out what they didn’t know they knew.” I certainly hope that as I write, I will discover more of my own wisdom and glean from the wisdom of many, many others.

This is for you, too, my fellow educator. Let us learn from one another. I am sharing my thoughts, experiences, and discoveries with you, and hope that some of them – even if just a single post for a single moment – will garnish you with an insight that will transform your practice. Please leave comments and contact me – I want to communicate with and learn from you.

And finally, most importantly, this is for our students. Although our students are unlikely to find themselves reading this blog, it is with them in mind that we establish this platform. Our future depends on our ability to educate our next generation. This education will come in the form of content and facts, but also in skills, perspectives, values, and wisdom. What will we pass on to our children? I firmly believe that we have powerful tools at our disposal to make meaningful decisions about how to conduct education. We must, as a society, dare to work together and strive to bring forward the best education experience for our youth as possible. They are counting on us.

This blog is my little slice of the pie, my little contribution to the conversation regarding education taking place around us. I genuinely look forward to the discussions and relationships I will forge with many of you in the days ahead, all in the name of an ever-improving education experience for our children.

This blog is for me, for you, and for our students.
